Adding more cats to the household

Hello, I have 2 male cats that are 3 years old, they are still very playful and seem to be friendly with other cats. They live inside and outside but are inside on a night. I would like to have more cats and keep looking at local charities. I'm thinking kittens would be easier to bond with my 2 boys, can anyone please give me advice on this ? does the age of the kitten matter ? and is female or male easier for bonding. Thanks

Are your male cats neutered?

And yes, a kitten would be better as adult cats don't typically find them threatening (adult cats can be very territorial.)

As for gender, as long as they are all fixed, it doesn't usually matter.
