You've covered pretty much anything that I would suggest; great job. However, I think we have an opening for kitty's mental health, ie playing with them, suitable toys and home environment etc. Saying something about cats and kids might be a good idea too, because can be cruel and torment cats, even if they don't really mean to.

You're American, right? What about an article on an American cat charity that you especially like? Perhaps you could contact them, let them know that you want to write a complementary article about them on here and would they give you an interview and perhaps show you around the place and explain what they do for our furry friends? (Assuming they're not too far away. Mustn't forget that America is so much bigger than the UK lol.) Take lots of pictures (with their permission, of course) and post the best ones in your article.

This will help to increase the profile of both them and us, plus help the cause of caring for cats and hopefully increase donations for the charity.

It might be worth going for smaller ones that are naturally struggling more financially and in manpower and resources than the bigger ones, maybe. Totally up to you. Waddya think?!

If you need any help with proofreading etc, let me know.

Thank you! Yes, we do. A lot of people don't realize that cats can have mental issues just like us humans. Those are great ideas! I actually wrote an article about cats and children on my blog. I would post it here, but it didn't reach the forum 500 word article minimum. 😢

Yes, I am American. That's a wonderful idea! There's an animal shelter in a nearby county I could write about. I don't know if any other animal charities near me, other than shelters.

Definitely! I'm gonna look into that, thank you!

Thank you! I'll probably take you up on your offer one day. LOL.

A bit more regarding that mental health.

Cats of different ages have different activity levels, with the battery gradually running down as they get older. Giving general advice on the appropriate level of mental stimulation will help owners optimise their cat's experience, I think.

Another area could be how to handle disabled cats and their challenges.

I know all this requires a fair bit of research though and writing these articles is a hobby for you, so I don't want you to feel like I'm trying to dump a whole load of work on you. Hence, do whatever you're comfy with.

True, true. That's a good idea.

Yeah, I might have to start with specific disabilities, but that's a great idea also.

Not at all! I did ask, afterall. LOL. I have trouble finding specific things to write about, so this helps! Thank you!
Sorry, the forum doesn't allow posts longer than 500 words?
Dang it, I meant minimum. 🤦‍♀️ Lemme fix that. I'm sorry.

You're welcome. :)

I'm really confused now. There is a post limit on XenForo, but that's in characters and is a maximum value that is configurable. You could make a post of one character if you wanted to, or a single smiley, say. Hence, I'm not clear what the problem is.

I meant the article minimum that @FF implemented. Not the forum software. I apologize for not being clear.

I don't see a problem with very short, bite-sized articles.

@FF would you like to add your bit about this? Are you ok to change the limit to allow shorter articles?

If I remember correctly, article guidelines applied only if you wanted your posts to be featured on the front page of the site. Since we don't do that anymore, you can write about anything you want.
Hope that clears things up for you @KittyJ

Okay, thank you! Longer articles are more likely to come up from Google searches than shorter articles, so I would like to make them as long as possible without being too wordy. LOL.

Here's another idea: cat stories.

I've read Kindle books full of short feelgood fiction stories about cat adventures, just a few pages long. If you like writing fiction, then you might want to give this a go. Basing it on your own personal experiences can help to make for a very authentic and engaging story, too.

Waddya think?

I admit I wrote a short book about my first cat when I was about 10. It was horrible. 😂 I have dabbled in writing fiction. It might be worth trying again.

But one question: should I try something more geared towards young children with talking cats? Or something more realistic?

Personally, I like to read more adult oriented stories and adults generally look at this site more than kids, so I think that's the better choice. Again though, it's not hard and fast, so if you especially wanna do a children's story, then go for it.

Rewriting your story about your first cat might be a good start. Why was it horrible, then?

I agree. True! Could always do both, I reckon.

Because I was 10. 😂 I could try rewriting it or something.
