Coyote in Area

I have no idea. Sounds strange to me and why isn't he interested in the cats? I don't think the raccoons drag food over that way, just odd that in that spot the toy is there, unless he is someone's pet. And why the cats don't seem to be afraid is another thing. I'm getting two more of those cams today Will set them up in different parts of the yard that I can still watch and throw the toy down below just to see what he does. If he gets the toy and takes off then we'll know he's here for the toy. But he passes the raccoons and possums all the time so he's obviously not here for food. I just don't want him getting too familiar with coming here though because he'll start associating all humans with a meal.

Maybe he's well fed and not looking for food? I don't think cat is a coyotes first choice when it comes to food. Okay. Can coyote be legally kept as pets in your area? It seems that the cats just aren't threatened by the coyotes presence.

No they can't be legally kept as pets but that's never really stopped people from keeping exotic pets. 2 months ago a neighbor was found with a bengal tiger in his house and that definitely is illegal. Again if the coyote is a pet we don't know the circumstances. Could there be a rehabilitator in the area that has a license to keep him/her? Or did someone find this coyote as a pup without a mother and brought him home? He never was even seen attacking the chickens that live across the street or even catching any of the mice an abandoned building by us draws. Just curious about this.

Oh, wow. A tiger? That's crazy. True. Maybe someone else is leaving out food for cats/dogs/other domestic animals and the coyote is eating it.

That could be. My cams are out for delivery and I just threw the ball to lower part of yard. To test a theory. For all we know he may be playing with the cats when not on cam. I just hear some stories of brutal attacks and eating of cats and others where people have videos of coyotes eating alongside cats and dogs and it's hard sometimes to separate truth from fiction. That's why we should let our ferals know how much we love them. We never know what may happen to them. Although I hate thinking about it. I'm thinking of getting the 7 foot animatronic Pennywise the Clown (The Bill Skarsgard portrayal) to set out back but then the cats may get scared.

Okay. That's a good idea. Yes, it is hard sometimes. You can't forget that every individual animal is different. Hmm, I wonder if an animal would react to things like clowns the same way we do, considering they have different fears and worries than us humans.

They run from humans that move and talk, and since this Pennywise moves and talks, taking lines from the movie I'm sure that may deter him a bit.

If I was a coyote, this would scare me the moment I approached. https://a.co/d/b9PlklG

Sorry it gave the whole link to Amazon but the video at the bottom. And put out by Spirit of Halloween so it should be good quality. Then I have a bodyguard for the rest of the year (I don't live in a good neighborhood although the coyote might solve that problem hmmm)

So that's what the coyote was coming for. I placed one of my cams still within wifi range and positioned toward the area I threw the dog toy. The coyote came found the ball grabbed it and ran. I didn't even have the lights to turn on in that area so it wasn't because of any alarm. How odd. A wild coyote playing with dog toys.

Wow! That's amazing! Maybe it's a female and she took it for her babies? Either way, that's just crazy!

I heard that someone is feeding this coyote. That isn't really helping the coyote at all. It's making the coyote think humans are a source of food. Meanwhile, rats, voles and moles are being left untouched and repopulated because why should the coyote go for them when there's food in a bowl for them? Then what happens if said person moves. Food stops being supplied and the aggression starts with attacks on pets and children. I've been doing a lot of research. I don't get the people in my neighborhood. And when I dare say something they say it's good to get rid of all feral cats. Even if said feral cats are in my yard. Anyway coyote didn't appear last night. 3 visiting cats ran off though with my war zone set up but maybe with this coyote problem it may be a good thing for them. I don't know. Trying to resolve this coyote issue in my area is a losing battle. I'm still fighting for this wildlife habitat for them but getting no support.

Hmm, I completely understand where you're coming from. It doesn't sound like a good idea but there doesn't seem to be anything that can be done about it. If the setup for the coyotes does work out, maybe food could be left out on a daily basis to ensure that the animals aren't without food.

I honestly think tearing down the derelict boarded up houses that spans a good 1/2 mile and putting in a wildlife habitat/park would be very aesthetically pleasing It's across the road from the farmers market which we all know draws mice and rats so they would have their food without touching any barn cats or even the crops. I just don't see where my municipality would rather leave boarded up houses that are fire hazards instead of tearing down and doing this? I just need to find a good way of proposing the idea.

Not yet as they require I go to a town meeting and in my condition and Mom's health it's impossible. I will be sending off a regular mail to them about it though
